چکیده مقاله |
Biopolymers are polymeric molecules of biological origin composed of covalently bonded monomers. Extracellular polymeric substances (EPS), a microbial biopolymer composed of diverse macromolecules, serve as an indicator of biofilm development. EPS, complex molecules produced by microorganisms, offer a promising approach to environmental clean-up. This study explores the versatility of EPS in treating water, wastewater, sludge, and landfill pollution. EPS' unique properties, such as their ability to bind pollutants and their biodegradable nature, make them valuable tools for environmental restoration. By acting as bioflocculants, adsorbents, and biopolymers, EPS contribute to enhanced pollutant removal, improved sludge dewaterability, and overall ecosystem restoration. While our research highlights the potential of EPS, overcoming challenges related to their variability and cost is essential for widespread application. Continued research is needed to fully unlock the potential of EPS as a sustainable solution to environmental problems. This study employed a descriptive-analytical approach to investigate the applications, components, advantages, and challenges associated with [subject matter] within the water, wastewater, and sludge treatment industries. |
