چکیده مقاله |
The world’s water resource has been contaminated due to toxic pollutants such as heavy metals, surfactants, dyes, personal care products, pharmaceuticals and pesticides from industrial and agricultural resources into water streams. Extraordinary efforts have been done to solve the problem of wastewater in recent decades and different approaches of eliminating emerging pollutants have been employed globally. Three techniques have been recognized for the removal of water contaminations including physical procedures like membrane filtration and adsorption, chemical methods like electrochemical oxidation and Fenton oxidation, and biological techniques. Photocatalytic degradation and adsorption are two the most sustainable purification technologies due to their simple, and economic process. Furthermore, various chemical compound has been detected for effective wastewater treatment like metal oxides, semiconductors, nanohybrids, metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and carbon-based materials. Among them, MOFs show a significant capacity as novel class of porous materials for abatement of pollutants. This study briefly highlights the several methods for eradicating of water pollutants and application of metal organic frameworks as photocatalyst or adsorbent. Then communicates insights into recent research developments by different MOFs. Based on this review, it can be found that adsorption and photocatalytic degradation by MOF are sustainable, simple, environmental-friendly and cost-effective techniques for wastewater treatment among all other conventional technologies. Although further research and development, optimization, and practical process for finding a high performance MOF which be capable of absorbing light in the both visible and ultraviolet region is required. |
